YOUR EXPERIENCE

Fresh 48 sessions take place before you are discharged from the hospital. Babies change so quickly, so this is a precious and fleeting time to document! As a mom and early childhood educator, I also know how the best plans can change so we will work together to determine what makes the most sense for you should your birth plans change.

We will schedule an approximate date based on your due date. I will keep my schedule open and will visit before you are discharged from the hospital. I've had two babies myself, so I understand what it's like to be a new parent and a new mom. I don't want to interfere at all with your bonding and recovery, but want to capture a window into this precious time that is so fleeting.

THE PROCESS

  • We'll start with a complimentary initial phone call to get to know each other and discuss what to expect, how I work in the hospital, your due date, where you’re delivering your baby, and more. I want this to be a time for you to get to know me, learn more about my work, and ensure I’m a good fit for your family to document these early memories..

  • After booking your session you’ll receive a session guide to help you prepare for your session. This provides tips on what to wear, what to think about in your hospital room, how to prep siblings, etc. I want to make sure you have all of the information you need for a relaxed session.

  • You’ll receive a detailed questionnaire about a month before your due date. This way I can be sure to document the things that matter most to you, just in case your baby arrives early! I ask lots of questions because I want to get to know you as much as possible before we meet.

  • About a month before your due date, we’ll schedule a phone consult to discuss plans for the session, what to wear, discuss any needs or special accommodations your family may have, and answer all questions. I don’t place a specific time on these calls because it’s most important the plan is clear and your questions are answered.

  • Prior to your session, you’ll receive a session plan tailored to your session. This is where all of the information from your questionnaire and our phone consult will be combined along with some additional tips to ensure a relaxed session.

  • You’ll receive your gallery within 4 weeks of your session date. When your online gallery is ready, you’ll receive your set number of images based on the collection you’ve selected which will include a mix of color and black and white image. A print release is included.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • You schedule a complimentary call and we chat. I’ll send a proposal and agreement for you to complete and sign, you pay a 20% retainer to hold your spot, and then you will be officially booked! Everything is easily completed online.

  • You don’t have to do much of anything! Just plan what you want to wear and pack it in your hospital bag in advance. In terms of your hospital room, leave everything to me. You will have just had a baby and that’s where I want your focus to be as well as on your own healing. I might move the furniture around slightly for optimal light and more flexibility with shots, but I’ll take care of that when I arrive and see the room. I might ask you if I can move some things or put some things in cabinets to minimize distractions, but you don’t need to worry about any of that. I’ll take care of everything.

  • Some moms prefer to wear the hospital gown provided and some prepare a gown and robe or pajamas from home. The most important thing is to be comfortable and wear something that makes breast feeding easier for you (if you will be breastfeeding your baby). Partners should also dress comfortably, but avoid shirts with logos or that are too busy to keep photos timeless and focused all of you and your new baby. For babies, I recommend keeping is simple with a neutral onesie and we can add color with swaddles. We’ll discuss this more and you’ll also receive more information about this in your Session Guide.

  • I frequently hear from folks that they feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. My goal is to make everyone feel relaxed and to enjoy the session because I believe sessions should be easy, especially after having just had a baby. I provide gentle guidance to support connection and enhance lighting and composition. Primarily, I want you to be yourselves so we can capture this moment in time.

  • It is a big transition having a new baby around, so I like to keep it very easy for older siblings. I suggest asking a family member or friend to watch your older child for the first part of the session. This way when your older child arrives, we can make it all about them so they feel special too. Also, keep in mind I’m a mom and early childhood special educator, so I happily will play and engage your older children. I share more details in your Session Guide after booking and we’ll work together during pre-planning to make sure everyone feels comfortable on the day of the shoot.

  • I am fully vaccinated and wear a mask for all indoor sessions. My goal is to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so we will discuss this in more detail during our phone consult. I will also follow all hospital guidelines.

  • I completely understand if after your baby arrives you are not in a space where hospital photos will work, so we can transfer your session to an in-home newborn session. In the event of session cancellation for any reason (other than weather), the retainer will not be refunded. If you cancel, all retainers paid are not refundable.

  • I’ll keep my schedule open around your due date. Your partner will let me know when you are in labor, so I can be sure to arrange my schedule. Once your baby arrives, we will determine a time that works best before you are discharged from the hospital.
