THe Experience

Relaxed maternity sessions center around exploring meaningful locations or enjoying activities at home so that you can focus on being together and documenting your pregnancy before your baby arrives. Pregnancy is part of your journey as a parent and though you may not feel like yourself in your body as it grows a tiny human, you’ll treasure these memories down the road as will your baby to be and this is a time to focus on you. I’ll follow your lead while also providing gentle guidance so that your joy and love for each other shine through. Think natural, not posed. Authentic, not perfect because perfect isn’t real. I’ll follow your lead as a family. It’s best to schedule maternity sessions between 30-35 weeks.

THE PROCESS

We'll start with a complimentary initial phone call to get to know each other and discuss what to expect, your vision, my style, and answer any questions. This is a time to ensure I’m a good fit for your family.
After booking your session you’ll receive a session guide to help you prepare for your session. This provides tips on what to wear, how to prep your home for in-home sessions, how to prep your children if you have older ones, etc. I want to make sure you have all of the information you need for a relaxed session.
You’ll receive a detailed questionnaire a couple of weeks before your session date. This way I can be sure to document the things that matter most to you. I ask lots of questions because I want to get to know you as much as possible before we meet.
After I receive your questionnaire, we’ll schedule a phone consult to discuss plans for the session, what to wear, discuss any needs or special accommodations your family may have, and answer all questions. I don’t place a specific time on these calls because it’s most important the plan is clear and your questions are answered.
Prior to your session, you’ll receive an individualized session plan. This is where all of the information from your questionnaire and our phone consult will be consolidated along with some additional tips to ensure a relaxed session.
You’ll receive your gallery within 4 weeks of your session date. When your online gallery is ready, you’ll receive your set number of images based on the collection you’ve selected which will include a mix of color and black and white images. A print release is included.

You schedule a complimentary call and we chat. I’ll send a proposal and agreement for you to complete and sign, you pay a 20% retainer to hold your spot, and then you will be officially booked! Everything is easily completed online.
I recommend sometime between 30-35 weeks.
The most important thing is to be comfortable and to be yourselves. Most women prefer a long or short dress that accentuates their bump. We’ll discuss this more and you’ll also receive more information about this in your Session Guide. We’ll discuss the location and season and plan accordingly.
I frequently hear from folks that they feel uncomfortable in front of the camera. My goal is to make everyone feel relaxed and to enjoy the session because I believe sessions should be easy. I provide gentle guidance to support connection and enhance lighting and composition. Primarily, I want you to be yourselves so we can capture this moment in time.
There is a lot of anticipation and uncertainty with a baby on the way, so I like to keep it very easy for older siblings. I’m a mom and early childhood special educator, so I happily will play and engage your older children. I share more details in your Session Guide after booking and we’ll work together during pre-planning to make sure everyone feels comfortable on the day of the shoot.
I am fully vaccinated and wear a mask for all indoor sessions and outdoors if needed. My goal is to ensure everyone feels safe and comfortable, so we will discuss this in more detail during our phone consult.
You may reschedule once if you notify me at least 48 hours in advance. We can transfer the session payment to a new date as long as it is before your due date. This does not include rescheduling due to weather (rain, extreme cold, air quality) or a conflict out of my control. If I'm sick, I will also reschedule because I would never want to expose your family. In the event of session cancellation for any reason (other than weather), the retainer will not be refunded. If you cancel, all retainers paid are not refundable.
