Why Documenting Your Pregnancy Matters | San Francisco Maternity Photographer

After having two babies, I know what pregnancy is like and now wish I had documented more of my pregnancies. This is why I love capturing this time for new moms. I loved the kicks and feeling the activity of my babies growing, though it came along with some struggles to which many pregnant women can attest. Some new moms are reluctant to document this time because they simply don’t feel like themselves and may not see the value. I’m here to tell you that you will not regret booking a maternity session. This time is fleeting and documenting it helps keep the memories alive, and allows you to share them with others. My children love looking at the few photos I have and knowing they were once in my belly!

This mom to be, like many of us, was uncertain if she wanted to document her pregnancy in this way, but her husband encouraged her to take the leap to capture this time together. We worked together to determine the perfect location and settled on Lands End in San Francisco. On the day of the shoot, we arrived to find fog, wind, and a chill in the air which isn’t unusual on the coast, but this couple snuggled up and made the most of their time together. And this beautiful mom-to-be was stunning in her pink, flowing dress - the movement of which - was perfect in the wind. Not only did I get to spend the afternoon with this wonderful couple for a mini-maternity session, but I also later met their baby boy for a newborn session. If you’re just wanting a few high-quality maternity shots to document this time, mini-maternity sessions are a great option and are available as an add on with newborn and Fresh 48 sessions!
